Hanoi, VNA – At the beginning of 2022, many valuable agricultural, forestry and fishery products will be sold to the US market, opening the door for agricultural products to accelerate their entry into the huge and high-end US market.
A shipment of 16 tons of products from Vietnam’s Pacific Foods, including fish sauce, coffee and beverages, is expected to arrive at the US port of Long Beach on April 10. This is the company’s first export of fish sauce, dressings, beverages and produce to this “ultra-picky” US market.
According to the plan, in April 2022, Pacific Foods’ second shipment weighing about 28 tons, including rice, dips, and seasonings, will be shipped to the United States.
According to statistics from Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first two months of 2022, the United States surpassed China to become Vietnam’s largest importer of agricultural, forestry and fishery products, with an import value of more than 2.3 billion US dollars. 69.9% of them are wood and wood products.
In 2021, Vietnam’s agricultural exports will reach US$48.6 billion, of which exports to the United States will reach nearly US$12 billion (accounting for 27.5% of total exports).
Ruan Manh Hung, chairman of Nafoods, said that in order to enter the high-end market, companies should standardize export processes, create a closed value chain, plan raw material areas and manufacturer systems, and ensure that the quality of agricultural products meets the requirements of importers.
Vietnam’s Minister-Counselor of Commerce in the United States, Bui Huishan, affirmed that the export space of Vietnamese agricultural products to the United States is still broad, but to gain a firm foothold in this market, enterprises must ensure the stability of product quality and gain the trust of retailers.
Some potential products to be exported to the United States include fruits, stem vegetables, coffee, tea, pepper, rubber, cashew nuts, aquatic products, etc. If they can meet the technical requirements for exporting to the United States, they will have broad prospects for exporting to the United States in the future.
Bui Hui Son said that the economic and trade relations between Vietnam and the United States are at the best period in history. 越南驻美国商务公使衔参赞裴辉山认定,越南农产品对美国的出口空间依然广阔,但能在该市场站稳脚跟,企业必须确保产品质量的稳定性,获得零售商的信任。
